Brigadoon trotters have been grazing on the idyllic isle of d'Assels in Drongen since 1968.
Marcel Wauters renovated a quietly located farm and kept there his first broodmare Antoinette on 'Ecurie Brigadoon'
The paddocks are located on a donk surrounded by a gorgeous nature reserve that regularly awakens in the mist. Hence the name Brigadoon, was chosen after the Scottish village of Brigadoon that only emerges from the mist once every 100 years.
After Marcel’s death, the stud farm Stoeterij Patrick Wauters was founded in 2014 by his son Patrick Wauters with the aim of conveying the Brigadoon trotters to the top of the trotting sport in Europe.
Unfortunately, Patrick Wauters was unable to complete the realization of his dream as he died prematurely due to sudden illness. In 2016 the torch was enthusiastically taken over by grandson Rik Wauters to carry out his father's vision.
Stoeterij Patrick Wauters stands for quality whereby from the moment the mare is fertilized, we work constantly to present a top Brigadoon trotter to the public.

After a fast start, Rio Brigadoon took the lead.
Rio Brigadoon kept this lead for the rest of the race.

03/10/2024 Offlimit Brigadoon finishes strong 2nd on Hamburg track
On the day of the Big race of Germany, Offlimit Brigadoon ran in a race reserved for 3-year-old horses with earnings up to €7.000.
After a very fast race start, Offlimit Brigadoon ran very attackingly at the head of the field. Series winner Klaus von Herten took over the field with 500m to go and easily won the race. Offlimit Brigadoon finished a deserved 2nd in a time of 1.16.6 over 2200m autostart.
